Currently (version 21.1) , Smart View is suffering from a persistent and frustrating bug with Smart Lists drop-down functionality in Excel.
One of the many ways to replicate this bug is:
- Select a Smart List drop-down cell
- Select a non-Smart List cell and enter a value
- Click back onto the Smart List drop-down cell
- Smart View crashes...go to step 1 over and over again
Given the vast majority of Smart View users change a cell value and click away from the cell to change it to dark-yellow (ready to be submitted) this one turns up A LOT.
Fortunately there's a super easy workaround.
Just turn off the floating toolbar in Smart View - by ensuring the checkbox highlighted below is unchecked.
Hopefully Oracle will fix this in the future, since no-one likes losing features and I actually use the floating toolbar a lot. Here's a screenshot showing the locations of these floating buttons in the regular toolbar, if you need help readjusting to life without the floating bar!
Hope this helps someone,
Until next time,
Mike
